The image above is the answer key to a surprisingly tricky puzzle which requires learners to keep a clear distinction in mind between the spelling of words and the way they are pronounced. For example, the sound /w/ is found at the beginning of 'week' as you would expect from the spelling, but also at the beginning of 'one'. The rules of the game are at the top of the worksheet download below. You will also find an answer key version of the worksheet showing the phonemic transcriptions.
