Mark's spelling maze 'ow' - hancockmcdonald.com/materials/marks-spelling-maze-ow
A. Where now? Moscow! B. Loads of snow? Moscow! Which rhymes for you – A or B? For me, it’s B, but for many American speakers it’s A. Ok, it’s not earth-shattering news, but the question is the tip of an iceberg when it comes to the pronunciation of the spelling OW. Some words have the ‘now’ vowel, some have the ‘snow’ vowel. There are even pesky little homographs like ‘bow’ which have both – the bodily gesture of respect is A, the loop decoration of ribbon is B. In this maze, you can only go through words which have the B pronunciation!
