The vowel sound in FAT is usually spelt with the single vowel letter ‘a’. Sadly, the opposite is not true: sometimes a single letter ‘a’ may be pronounced as a different vowel sound. If you do this maze, you may notice some patterns, such as the ‘a’ sounds different before an ‘r’, ‘l’, ‘y’ or ‘w’, or after a ‘w’. There are some accent variations, but they shouldn’t alter the outcome of the puzzle. They may create a couple of dead ends though, and maybe even a short cut!
