The course has been created by teacher, trainer and ELT community activist Taylor Veigga, alongside veteran ELT author and pronunciation specialist Mark Hancock. The flipped approach of the course combines access to an online platform of videos and resources which participants may access at any time, plus weekly live one-hour sessions with the tutors via video-link. The limited class size mean that there is plenty of opportunity to interact directly with the tutors and other participants during the course.
The course combines phonology – from sounds to connected speech and intonation, with pedagogy – games, puzzles and techniques such as drilling. Both of these are set within the context of the purpose of pronunciation teaching – to help your students to become more effective and intelligible participants in a global English language speaking community.
The biannual H&V Pronunciation Course for Teachers began as a form of continuous professional development for English teachers in Brazil, but now we have participants joining from all around the globe.
