'Marking' Speaking

How can we 'mark' students’ oral production? In this session, we will look at suitable tasks for classroom assessment. We will then look at criteria with which both teacher and students can evaluate speaking. You will leave the session with strategies for creating ‘marking menus’ which are balanced and appropriate for different tasks and levels.

(I have also given variations of this talk at the following event:  British Council Teaching Conference, Valencia, September, 2010)

Great ideas and fit into many different course book or original activities. I also have students do journal writing for homework and then have them spring into the speaking.

Yes, absolutely, and then you could also use the CEFR communication strategy scales for spoken production (planning, compensating and repair) if your students are giving mini presentations.
